Winemaker Sebastien Marquet
Sébastien Marquet’s impressive background includes 27 years of vintages from across the world, and studies in œnology and viticulture in his native Burgundy. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree at the world renown Lycée Viti-œnologie de Beaune and a CFPPA business certificate in wine sales from the Lycée Viti-oenologie Macon Davaye.
A long career as winemaker in various wine regions worldwide has given Marquet the opportunity to produce award-winning wines from each of these localities. In addition, through this extensive experience, Marquet has developed the skills required to produce quality wines in distinct climates, and terroirs, such as wines produced in Burgundy, Languedoc-Roussillon, Martinique, Sonoma, Napa Valley, and Virginia.
Through his proficiency, Marquet has refined his approach to wine quality, and consistency, vintage after vintage. As a “hands-on” winemaker, Marquet prides himself in conducting and coordinating every aspect of the winemaking process, from managing vineyards, harvest picking dates, berry and wine analyses, vinification, blending, and quality control. Marquet has demonstrated his ability to deliver through an extensive list of awards and accolades received for his wines, including a recent Double Gold medal at the San Francisco Chronicle competition for the Greenhill Winery and Vineyards Chardonnay 2014.
Nature. Soil. Climate. Human Touch.
The Greenhill Wine Experience demystifies wine to it’s basic elements of terroir; nature, soil, climate, and the human “savoir faire.”
Our goal is simple, to deliver the expression of our terroir, it’s aromas and flavor, into every glass.
“My philosophy is to adapt my knowledge, and experience, to the unique terroir I am presented with. I am a traditionalist, taking Old World techniques, and refining them for the New World Palate. To me, making wine is both a science and an art, a communion with nature, it’s a lifestyle.”
